The short version
We only collect what we need to help you find work and build applications. Your CV and job data are yours: you can export or delete them at any time. We never sell your data, and the models that write your drafts never train on it. Card details are handled by Stripe for current purchases, never by us.
Snagged is a New Zealand job-search tool. We help you find local roles, build tailored CVs and cover letters, and track your applications.
To run the service: save and sync your tracker and CVs, generate your tailored drafts, keep your plan and fair-use limits in order, prevent abuse, and fix problems. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and run the site. We also use optional, privacy-first analytics (PostHog, with no autocapture) to learn what to improve. Analytics stays off until you accept it in the cookie banner, and you can decline with no loss of features.
Snagged runs on a small set of trusted providers, some based overseas. Each only handles the part of the service it provides, and is bound by contract to protect your information to standards comparable to New Zealand law:
Because some of these providers are overseas, your information may be processed outside New Zealand. We only use providers contractually committed to protecting it.
When you generate a CV, cover letter or interview prep, the text is sent to the providers named above purely to produce your draft. It is never used to train a model. Please do not paste someone else's confidential information unless you have the right to use it.
We keep your account and job data until you delete it or close your account, then we remove it. One thing has a shorter life on purpose: when you apply to a job here, the copy of that application the employer holds, including the CV and any cover letter you sent them, is kept for 12 months from the day you last submitted it and is then removed for good. Your own record of having applied stays in your tracker. We keep a small set of records longer where the law requires it, for example payment and tax records and anonymised abuse-prevention and audit logs, for up to 7 years. An automated weekly clean-up enforces these limits: expired job listings, old applications, stale technical logs, and old usage records are permanently removed on schedule, not just when someone remembers.
You can view, correct, export, or delete your data, and opt out of marketing email, at any time. Export and deletion are built into the app under Account, in the Data tab, and the delete your account page sets out exactly what is removed. Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to access and correct your information, and we will notify you of any serious data breach as required. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under your local law.
Sensitive fields are encrypted, access is restricted, and payments never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and review them regularly.
Snagged is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
If we update this policy we will change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
